* Friday, June 24 2005 Korean Food

I only stayed in Korea for the total of two nights but I have never enjoyed Korean food as much as I did during this trip.

The very first time I visited Korea was 32 years ago, when they still had curfew. Since then, I have been to this country over ten times. Every visit to Korea was for business but I have stayed in Korea for as long as ten days. However, this trip was the first time that I truly enjoyed Korean food.

I tried to figure out why this was but it’s not like the Korean food itself changed so it must be that my taste in food had changed. Also the fact that I was traveling around the world for the last 80 days had some impact on how I enjoyed the Korean food. Either way, starting from the bibim pab on Asiana airline, we had a traditional Korean dinner with professor Song at his student’s restaurant that night, another bibim pab for lunch the next day, then a dinner at a prominent Korean restaurant with the movie director, Kan where we enjoyed many different vegetable dishes that I have never tried before. Then today, professor Song treated us again to a restaurant that serves traditional imperial dishes. I could have lived on Korean food for many more days if I had to. This was actually proven when I ordered another bibim pab on the airplane going back to Japan today.

A small portion of traditional imperial course dishes

When I look back to all the dishes I had, I realize that most of them where vegetable dishes. The crabs and clams that I had in Shibetsu city were great but if I had to chose, I would have to choose the vegetable based dishes of Korean food. It’s probably because I am getting older that I am starting to prefer vegetable dishes, but the fact that the Korean tradition had created such a variety of vegetable dishes is amazing and very impressive. I believe that the more developed the culinary culture of a country is, the more developed the basis of that country is. I think that my deeper understanding of the Korean food translates to a deeper understanding of Korean people in general.

My wife has been caught in the Korean tv drama boom these days that our tv is constantly showing Korean drama now. Because of that, I can’t resist to take a glimpse of them as well. Maybe I’m actually getting some positive influence from that drama about the female cook.
I should show water images of famous dishes from different parts of the world and take crystal pictures of them now! Roast beef from England, hamburger from the States, pasta from Italy, etc.

* Thursday, June 23, 2005 Seminar in Hanyang University, Korea

The seminar was held in Professor Sohn’s lecture room of Hanyang University. The capacity of the room was 70, but, to my pleasure, 100 persons turned up. Though there were not so many students (I guess they were on the summer vacation), a lot of cultured persons such as Professor Sohn’s acquaintances, business managers, scholars, scientists and government officers related to water were among them. The participants were very attentive to my speech. With six questions in store for me, I believe the seminar turned out to be fruitful.

the Venue

Professor Sohn (rightmost); who did much for my benefit.

The banner is cool.

This was a particular kind of seminar, so I didn’t invited Mr. Kong, who is the sole Hado Instructor of Korean. But he came along with his son, which surprised and pleased me so much.

With Mr. Kong and His Son

I heard Korean water problem, especially Seoul’s, is getting serious. I suppose people came to my seminar wanted some hints to this problem. In fact, the population around Seoul is exploding these 10 years and now it’s over 20 million. To secure safe drinking water, daily life water and industrial water is urgent need for them.

After the seminar, a delightful dinner party awaited me; the world-famous film director Mr. Kang JeGyu, who visited my office February, invited me and my wife. He seems to be planning to make a film that has something to do with water in the future. I’m looking forward to it.

* Wednesday, June 22, 2005 Trip to Korea – Watching Nanta

After such a long time, I Masaru Emoto report my activity by myself. During my 3-day Korea tour, I was accompanied by my wife only. So I have to write in today’s diary (my wife doesn’t do it for me.) Anyway, since the beginning of this year, my business trip has come easier. Stuff of IHM always comes along and takes care of me. They sometimes interpret for me and keep a diary. It seems that they enjoy coming with me because they can learn many things and meet various people and visit a lot of places.

Now, this trip to Seoul realized by Professor Sohn of Hanyang University, which is one of the biggest universities in Korea. He is a very famous professor; he has taught a lot of people who now play active roles in Korean society such as actors, musicians, successful businesspersons and so on. As he read my books and resonated with them, he invited me to tell the story directly to his pupils.

I left Sapporo at ten thirty by air, by way of Haneda where I met my wife, and arrived in Korea a little past four. I feel Korea and Japan get nearer with Haneda Airport available. At the airport, Ms. Lim, one of Professor Sohn’s pupils, came to meet me. She can speak Japanese

Ms. Lim and Dr. Emoto

Mrs. Lim took us to a restaurant where Professor Sohn had been waiting for us. I guess this restaurant is run by one of his pupils; the manager kindly came to our table to greet us.

The Manager and Dr. Emoto

I ate Korean food, which was not for Japanese tourist but genuine Korean food. It was very delicious and also healthy with a lot of vegetables, so I really enjoyed it to my heart’s (and body’s) content. It gave me some kind of nostalgia and deep emotion, as I even thought maybe I was Korean in my former incarnation.

After the great meal, Professor Sohn fixed up a special opportunity to watch Nanta for us.

This Nanta was very exciting and interesting. Well, what is Nanta? I referred to the internet for information about Nanta.

Nanta means “battering”. It is a non-verbal performance that takes place in a kitchen. On the stage, they don’t speak a word but “batter” everyday kitchen utensils like knives, chopping boards, pots, pans and water bottles and make exciting rhythm.

Since its first appearance on stage in 1997, it has been applauded all over the world. It is now world-famous Korean performance, and people from Japan, China, and Southeast Asia come in big groups for Nanta.

It is exciting to see ordinary utensils produce sounds dynamically, sometimes delicately. The actors make the stage funny and exciting with their expressions and actions without words. Sometimes they clap their hands, throw balls, and there is audience participation, too. Nanta is a performance show for you not only to see but to participate in.

The attraction is beyond description. You should see it with your own eyes. I strongly recommend that you see Nanta when you visit Seoul.

It has been a busy day, moving from Sapporo to Tokyo and Seoul. But I enjoyed great food and a great show, so I can properly say it was a great day.

* Monday, June 20, 2005 Seminar in Shibetsu

After I (Masaru Emoto) wrote in the diary of June 22 and sent it to a person in charge, I noticed that I hadn’t reported the seminar in Shibetsu, so I’m writing this in a hurry. I apologize to Shibetu people.

Shibetsu, where you can see Kunashiri Island on the opposite shore, is a town with a population of 6500. People make a living in agriculture and fishery mainly in Shibetsu. It is well known that they catch the most salmon in Japan. In this town, an event “Mizu Kirari”, whose mantra is “treasure water”, has been planned for about six years. Mr. Yoshida and Mr. Suzuki, who are members of the commission, invited me.

On the opposite shore is Kunashiri Island.

I visited this town for the first time. What I felt there is that Kunashiri Island is really close.

Nowadays, territorial issues such as Takeshima breed conflicts. There are things that you can find out only when you are at the actual field. So we shouldn’t discuss these issues without reflection. As to me, I am invited as a Japanese man of culture to Korea, China and Russia, so I cannot be too careful about my statement. I’m going to visit Korea for three days leaving Japan the day after tomorrow. I have to form an opinion about Takeshima in case someone asks me the issue.

In the evening, 120 attentive town people came to my seminar. At the subsequent party, I enjoyed fresh and delicious seafood like crabs (my favorite) more than I can eat with officers of the town. I realized Japanese food is the best in the world. I would like to visit this town once a year if possible.

* Sunday, June 12, 2005Closing Ceremony in Tears

The last day of the first Hado Instructor School in America. The lecture by Mr. Kizu of IHM “How to Edit and Utilize Crystal Photographs” started at eight thirty. He delivered an explanation of the data of about 500 water crystal pictures that would be given to the participants at the closing ceremony. Then he spoke about how to edit them and how to make up a lecture utilizing them.

Next up, “The Beauty of Crystal Designs and LifeDesign” by Hirotsugu Hazaka, president of IHM. He said that everybody is a designer and leads the life as she/he imagines. And he referred to the power of words. Kenji Miyazawa’s “Night of the Milky Way Railway” and Misuzu Kaneko’s poems were introduced. Miyazawa said that one cannot be happy if all people are not happy. He also spoke about the copyright and right of use of water crystal pictures.

President Hazaka

After lunch break, we had Dr. Emoto’s lecture “The World of ‘Love and Gratitude’” He spoke about effects of electromagnetic waves on human body, effects of prayers to water, then Q&A session.

I understood we don’t need to be afraid of electromagnetic waves because love and gratitude improve our immunity, as shown by water crystal pictures. He insisted that the lack of love and gratitude impairs immunity and that leads to committing violent crimes or murders. He suggested that we train more Hado instructors in order to realize world peace.

Dr. Emoto

the Attentive Participants

At Q&A session, he answered such questions as:
You study water from all around the world; what do you think is good water?
How and where can we learn to operate Hado instruments?
Can we take pictures of water exposed to our own facial portrait?
How big is a water crystal?

Then he mentioned that only 3% of our brain and DNA are utilized and we can develop our ability to a great extent to realize world peace. He rounded off his lecture referring to his plan to distribute 650 million copies of a water crystal picture book to children all over the world for free in order to develop the capacity of human being, as he addressed in UN.

Dr. Emoto Referring to His Plan

After the lecture, Dr. Emoto handed over certificates to each person. CD-ROMs that contains slides of Dr. Emoto’s lecture, water crystal pictures, etc., the 3 books of “The Messages from Water” series, a badge of IHM, Hado Water made through the information from his/her facial portrait were also given.

Handing Over the Certificate

At the closing ceremony, Hiromasa Emoto delivered a speech in English. Mrs. Kazuko said to the participants, “When you go back home, please share the message with people around you. Then you will learn in small steps how to spread the message to the world. When I see you again, I hope that your face will be shining more brilliantly than today.”

Next, president Hazaka said, “We keep you current with new information. And we’ll reinforce staff so that we can support you more effectively.”

The first Hado Instructor School in USA was closed, with 25 certified Hado Instructor coming into the world. At the venue, some were crying, some were taking pictures, some were hugging each other, and some were expressing her/his gratitude.

At night, we reviewed the school with Dr. Emoto at a Japanese restaurant, enjoying Japanese food and Sake.

* Saturday, June 11, 2005Hado Instructor School Day 2

Hado Instructor School Day 2 began at eight in the morning, ahead of schedule. The room with the curtains drawn was filled with fumes of incense. Mr. Sotetsu Matsumura, a Buddhist monk instructed Zen with solemnity. The participants got in touch with Japanese culture though Zen. Then they moved to the main lecture room, and Mr. Matsumura delivered a lecture on Japanese Zen culture, the reason we live, Buddhists’ practices, what is Enlightenment and so forth. I was deeply impressed by the film of Ajari Genshin Fujiwara’s Sennichi-Kaiho Practice, one of the hardest Buddhist practice.

The next lecture was “New Science of Water; Hado and Water” by Mr. Yasuyuki Nemoto of IHM. He talked about chemistry and biology in the context of water. He explained the principle of homeopathy, too. He described water as the medium of the invisible and the visible.

After lunch, Mr. Shoji Sato of Heitate Shrine in Kumamoto prefecture, Japan gave a lecture titled “Mind of Old Shinto”. He said that Japanese culture is based on Old Shinto, and its only goal is to appreciate and accept everything.

Heitate Shrine has something mysterious. People from all over the world gather for the festival held on August 23rd, and they pray for human happiness and world peace. It awaken something like deep spiritual emotion taken over throughout the ages. Its Hado stirs our soul. All ethnic groups should appreciate each other to realize world peace, said Mr. Haruki of Heitate Shrine.

Mr. Sato described Dr. Emoto as the man who introduced Heitate Shrine to the world five years ago.

Mr. Shoji Sato Giving a Lecture

The last lecture of day 2 was “Hado Design” by Dr. Emoto. He illustrated that the crystal formation is the design of the vibration, showing pictures of water crystals that were exposed to photographs of Niagara waterfall, cherry blossoms, crop circles and the Star-Spangled Banner.

He also showed pictures of water crystals exposed to words, and represented that words are vibration and the origin of all life process. He rounded off his lecture putting stress on the importance of loving oneself.

Dr. Emoto Giving a Lecture

After the lecture, a tea ceremony was held. Mr. Matsumura’s wife and mother and Jaime, wife of Hiromasa Emoto of Hado Publishing USA served Japanese tea to all the participants.

The First Hado Instructor School in America started today at Holiday Inn Torrance. Some participants came from far away like Canada, Hawaii, New York. They had stayed at the hotel the night before; the school started at one twenty p.m.

Holiday Inn Torrance, the Venue

The reception desk opened at twelve thirty. The photographs of the participants’ face were taken by an instant camera, and they signed on it. This is because we were to measure their Hado using the photos and make Hado water designed for each of them. It would be given to them on the last day of the school. The number of the participants, including who applied on the very day, was 25.

At the beginning of the school, president of IHM Hazaka and vice-president of Hado Publishing USA Hiromasa Emoto gave the opening speech. Then the lecturers and the interpreter and other staff were introduced. After that, Dr. Emoto appeared on the stage, and had a roll call. Every participant talked about his/her background or the reason of taking the course.

Introducing the Staff

At the Lecture 1, Dr. Emoto explained how to measure Hado by using MRA, Magnetic Resonance Analyzer. Then, they experienced hands-on learning activity; experiments with tuning forks to feel resonance. Everyone was very interested in them and pleased to realize what resonance is.

Dr. Emoto Operating MRA

Experiments with Tuning Forks

As the lecture went on, they watched the video film made by IBM “Power of Ten”. It began with the scene of a man lying down, then gradually zooming out from him to the cosmic view point. And the reverse; the camera was zooming in the man, into his body at the level of elemental particles. It showed us that the human body is a microcosm.

It seemed that everyone, including people who had attended Dr. Emoto’s lecture before, was satisfied with the program, which utilized some devices or technology for people to learn effectively. After the lecture, Dr. Emoto took a picture with each participants to attach on the certification.

After dinner, Mr. Otake delivered general consideration on Hado Instruments. He went on to its mechanism and principle of how they work, and their application to many fields. Later on, he demonstrated how to operate them, surrounded by the participants asking questions until late at night.

Dr. Emoto’s world lecture tour was finished yesterday in San Diego. Hado Instructor School comes next, which starts tomorrow in Holiday Inn Torrance, LA. We the Dr. Emoto party came from Sandiego to the site by car spending two hours. There we met Mr. Yamaguchi from NY, Mr. Sato at Heitate Shrine from Kumamoto, Japan and interpreter Ms. Furuya, who had taken short vacation in Miami. From IHM, Tokyo, Mr. Hazaka, Mr. Otake, Mr. Nemoto, Mr. Kizu arrived.

Arranging luggage from Japan, inspecting the site, they were making preparation. They had a meeting on how they offer satisfactory lectures for participants to learn a lot with pleasure. Many ideas were given from Dr. Emoto and the staff. They modified the program or text or something to improve wherever possible. Hiromasa Emoto of Hado Publishing USA and Japanese IHM staff worked together to make the school a success. I heard the sound of typing from the staffs’ rooms until midnight.

The Meeting

In the morning, we prepared for the forthcoming Hado Instructor School at the office of Hado Publishing USA, near Los Angeles Airport. The office was full of stuff that would be used at the school. Considering the plans for Dr. Emoto’s action in America, we decided to rent another office room on the same floor to increase staff members. Dr. and Mrs. Emoto came to see the new office today. After that, Mr. Matsumura joined us and we started for San Diego, the last venue for this world lecture tour.

Driving two hours from LA, we arrived San Diego to meet interpreter Tomoko Miura’s mother, waiting for us at Hilton Hotel with some presents for us.

The lecture was held at Church of Today, presented by The Learning Annex, an organization which offers courses in health, spirituality and so on. Before the lecture, we had a party with invited people and book-signing session. When signing, Dr. Emoto wrote each person’s name beside his autograph.

Now, the lecture began. Mr. Matsumura in the Buddhist clothes stood by for his appearance. Introduced by Dr. Emoto, he got on the stage to prove the importance of water for human being. Speaking about some episodes of his apprentice who had accomplished one of the hardest Buddhist practice, he explained that water is essential to human being.

* Tuesday, June 7, 2005Move from Miami to LA

We moved from Miami to LA today, spending five and a half hours; North American continent is so large. Besides, three-hour time difference made me a little nervous. Hado Instructor School starts at June 10th for the first time in America. At the airport, we met Sotetsu Matsumura, a Buddhist monk, and Hiromasa Emoto.

Yacht Harbor Adjacent to the Hotel in Miami

We took a rest in Mr. Matsumura’s hotel room. There were lots of books in his room brought from Japan. He was studying very hard. He talk about how to teach Buddhism and Enlightenment to American people and how to let them experience Japanese culture, especially Wabi and Sabi. He was working hard for Hado Instructor School.

At dinner, Mr. Matsumura delivered his idea on what to do in America from now, too.

* Monday, June 6, 2005 Six-Hour Workshop in Miami

The second day in Miami, the sun of Florida came out from behind the cloud, the thunderstorm passed by. Today, we held a six-hour workshop. While we were eating breakfast, Dr. Emoto told about today’s program elaborated last night to two interpreters and Kazuko, who operates the projector. We went to the venue and prepared for the workshop after breakfast.

The workshop began at ten. As the lesson ran on, some participants started asking questions. They were so curious as a child. Dr. Emoto answered, “We have question time afterwards. So let me speak first, please.” Most of the participants were female, and many of them acted as a healer. However, I noticed a brown-haired boy listening very hard. The boy made a lasting impression on me for some reason or other.

Curious People Asking Questions

At lunch break, the boy came to ask questions to Dr. Emoto with his mother. Smiling, Dr. Emoto answered, “You are right.” I heard the boy was seven-years-old American-Colombian. The afternoon part of the workshop was comparatively easy for children like him to understand, but only his mother took part in.

The number of people of Hispanic backgrounds is increasing in America now. There are lots of TV programs in Spanish. Especially Miami has accepted many people from Central and South America. Today we happened to receive coverage from two major Hispanic TV stations.

At lunch break, from Univision, and after the workshop, from Telemundo. It was lucky Dr. Emoto wasn’t interviewed at the same time; I heard from Ms. Furuya that the two TV stations rivaled each other.

We had dinner at an Italian restaurant adjacent to the hotel. The sky didn’t get dark after seven o’clock. Kazuko suggested that we vanish some cloud. Then, trust me, the cloud did vanish in a few minutes for real. We were just surprised at that. I Kubota and Ms. Miyazawa had a good chance to hear Dr. Emoto’s plans and dreams in person; we are new to Dr. Emoto.

changed her daughter's life.

We left La Guardia Airport for Miami early in the morning. On the way flying to Miami, the captain announced that the plane would take detour on account of heavy rain. The plane jolted a little when it went through the cloud, but fortunately we could make landing safely. I was slightly disappointed because I wanted to see the blue sky of Florida. However, when we arrived, the sun appeared from behind the clouds.

At the airport, we met Kimiko Miyazawa. She said to Dr. Emoto, “The organizer had scheduled the seminar for the morning. So I got in touch with Hiromasa in LA, and replaced the evening program with your seminar.” He was a little bit surprised, but decided that he would give Benjamin Franklin Stickers to every participant as a token of good faith. In fact, we had worried about the schedule because we couldn’t get in contact with the organizer in advance.

The venue was Marriot Miami Biscayne Bay Hotel. Today’s lecture was for Prophet's Conference on “What the Bleep”. The time for lecture was shortened by 30 minutes because of the sudden schedule change. We rearranged the contents, slides and so forth, just in time.

Standing Ovation

Dr. Emoto Interviewed by a Radio with Interpreter Kimiko Miyazawa

After the lecture, he was deluged with people asking for his autograph standing in a row. We expected that would happen, so we had made a plan how to lead people and where to sign books beforehand. Though a long queue was made, we managed to avoid serious troubles. When signing books, Dr. Emoto and Ms. Furuya worked together in perfect harmony. Ms. Miyazawa was busy in explaining the stamp of Japanese words “Ai Kansha” meaning “Love Thanks”. After spending more than one hour to sign books, Dr. Emoto was interviewed by a radio.

When we completed the day’s schedule, we were caught in a thunderstorm.

* Saturday. June 4, 2005-2New York Seminar

This evening, I Hiromi Kubota joined the Dr. Emoto party. Please allow me to keep this dairy for some days.

Here in New York City, We held a seminar presented by GAIA Holistic Health Circle at Ethical Culture Auditorium near Central Park. Organizer Kazuko Tatsumura is a friend of Dr. Emoto’s and a sister of Hitoshi Tastumura, director of “Gaia Symphony”. Part 1 of the seminar was “Gaia Symphony No.3.

After the prearrangement for the seminar, A local cable TV interviewed Dr. Emoto at a park nearby. The interpreter hired by the TV wasn’t able to understand his speech because it included very complicated idea. So Ms. Furuya interpreted instead. He was interviewed by Spanish newspaper El Mundo, too. Western media seem to be interested in Dr. Emoto.

Interview at a Park

At the seminar, Susan Osbourne sang a song titled “Sakura” (sakura means cherry blossoms). I felt that her clear voice and beautiful pictures of sakura made the venue something holy.

Dr. Emoto delivered his resolution to distribute picture books of water crystals to children all over the world as he did at UN. His lecture was closed with standing ovation of 500 participants. Then he was deluged with people asking for his autograph. There were many Japanese among the audience. His humor raised laugh.

We reviewed the seminar at Kazuko Tatsumura’s, together with Mr. Ueki and Mr. Takeda from Sunmark Publishing, Dr. Hiromi Shintani, who is said to have “god hands”, Mrs. Shintani and Ms. Susan Osbourne. We had a good time.

However, we were scheduled to move to Miami early in the morning the next day, so we went back to our lodging without having enough time to enjoy Kazuko’s homemade dish or the clear view of the skyscraper.

* Saturday, June 4, 2005New York Bookfair

We got up early this morning too, not to move to the next city but to attend the breakfast meeting with publishers and booksellers. Four speakers invited, Dr. Emoto was the last to speak.

At six thirty, we started the preparation of the meeting, which was to begin at quarter to eight. I and Kazuko came earlier while Dr. Emoto was scheduled to arrive at seven thirty. But he didn’t show up till about quarter to eight, in a bad temper. He said that he had lost his way and tried to ask some people but couldn’t make them understand his English. So he was at a loss, in a bad temper. He didn’t eat anything at the breakfast meeting. I got nervous, “What will become of the speech?”

At the Breakfast Meeting

However, it turned out that I didn’t have to worry about it. He was a master of speech; he made a joke of the episode of the morning, “I started studying English when I was thirteen and kept on until twenty-two, to be a certified English teacher. I have visited America many times and had many chances to speak English since I reached the age forty. Nevertheless, I still can’t speak English.”

Though the speech was of only twenty minutes (taking my interpretation into account, it actually was ten minutes), some said it was great because the speech itself was well-elaborated and Dr. Emoto talked directly to the publishers and booksellers. I enjoyed interpreting his jokes. I was nearly made to laugh before I interpreted some jokes. Giving a speech makes Dr. Emoto happy even if he was in a bad temper; if you made him angry, you should gather people and ask him to give a speech!

After the breakfast, we went to the venue for New York Book Convention by taxi. The large venue was full of people. There were book-signing booths, and authors come to sign and distribute their books to each people standing in a row for free. Next to Dr. Emoto, Cynthia from Beyond Words explained heartily the merits of his books to each of them. The eagerness of people like Cynthia has put his book on the New York Times best seller list. I thank all of the staffs of Beyond Words very much.

I, Susumu Yamaguchi, met Dr. Emoto in New York City again. He has a very tight schedule, visiting New York three times in this three week; June 12 at Omega, 26 at UN, and this time.

This morning, before Water for Life festival #1, we were invited by Mr.Paton to sightseeing flight over New York City on his plane piloted by Mr. Paton himself. So we went to Westchester Airport. We were waiting for an hour, looking at the heavy gray sky. Unfortunately, we were not allowed to fly, and the flight was called off.

Then, we went to a bookstore to see how Dr. Emoto’s books were sold. In Kinokuniya, which was newly opened two months ago, at the entrance of the shop was a special section of Dr. Emoto’s books such as the series of “Messages from Water”, “The True Power of Water” each in English and Japanese version. In the same shopping center, there was a bookstore Barnes & Noble. There we asked a clerk if they had Dr. Emoto’s books, then he said “Dr. Emoto of Hidden Water” in no time, and took us to the shelf and handed “The True Power of Water”. When I introduced Dr. Emoto to him as the author, he was very excited to look at Dr. Emoto’s face and the picture of the book by turns and smiled gently.

Water Crystal Book’s Section in Kinokuniya

In the evening, we were invited to the dinner held by Mr. Ueki, President of Sunmark Publishing. Ms. Black, President of Beyond Words, Publisher Mr. Cohn, and Mr. Tanigawa, president of Kokoro were also invited. Mr. Ueki said that he met Mr. Cohn at Frankfurt ten years ago, then worked together through translation works, which provided a track to lead to the publish of “Hidden Messages in Water” from Beyond Words. Dr. Emoto said “ I asked a year ago Ms. Black how many copies Beyond Words’best-seller book had ever sold. She answered it was two hundred thousand. We planned to sell our books more than two hundred thousand within a year, and we made it.” Then Ms. Black added, “Thanks to Dr. Emoto’s American lecture tour.”

We had a dinner in the middle of Times Square.

At the Dinner

Please allow me to write about myself. At the dinner, I and Mr. Tanigawa, who were seated next to me, turned out to be alumni of Doshisha University, and Mr. Ichiro Takeda of Sunmark Publishing and my wife Hiroko Yamaguchi turned out to be alumni of Waseda University. We were surprised at Dr. Emoto’s power to join people and appreciated the encounter.

At the end of the dinner, when we heard “Happy Birthday” from some tables around, which was common in New York’s swanky restaurant, we decided to sing the song to celebrate the day June 1,when Dr. Emoto’s Fater was born on the day of 98 years ago, Dr. Emoto’s parents got married 70 yeas ago, and “The Messages from Water” was published 6 yeas ago.

* Wednesday, June 1, 2005 Water for Life Reunion in Austin

After Sun Valley, we come to Austin, Texas in the South, that has very different character from Sun Valley, in order to give a lecture at one of nationwide Omega Institute. Dr. Emoto gave a lecture at Omega in New York about two weeks ago, and I heard about Omega from him.

Dr. and Mrs. Emoto told me that Omega was surrounded by natural environment, and its lodgings were so simple as possible that you couldn’t even connect to the internet. I was very frightened; “how can I do without the internet for two days!”

When I arrived at Omega in Austin, The Crossing, however, I found that it was like a resort spot with modern facilities. It situates on a hill which has a good view of a lake. The room, though it has no television sets, is like that of first-class hotels. Austin’s Omega is based on the different concepts from New York’s Omega.

I was very excited when I was invited to enter Dr. and Mrs. Emoto’s room. Then I heard someone knocking on the door. Opening it, I found William Arntz, director of “What the Bleep Do We Know!?”. It’s been six months since we met him at Water for Life Festival in Tokyo last year. He, and we were invited here for the conference on “What the Bleep -”.

We also met an old friend, Mr. Paton for the first time since Water for Life Festival last year. He was invited to give a lecture, too.

Dr. Emoto meeting Mr. Arntz and Mr. Paton

They enjoyed talking about the UN or their dreams. I interpreted Mr. Arntz’s speech at Water for Life Festival, and it was my first job as an interpreter (I had just joined IHM before the festival). At that time, never had I imagined that I would travel around America and interpret Dr. Emoto’s two-hour lecture in front of 500 people. In a sense, Mr. Arntz gave me a chance to be a interpreter. I was very pleased to meet Mr. Arntz and Mr. Paton, like my old friends.

The day, June 1 was a triple anniversary; first, Dr. Emoto’s Fater was born on the day of 98 years ago, second, Dr. Emoto’s parents got married 70 yeas ago, lastly, “The Messages from Water” was published 6 yeas ago. It was such a special day, but I couldn’t interpret smoothly some parts that I had not heard before. I felt really sorry.

Omega in Austin has spa amenities besides accommodations and halls. They offer Watsu, a in-water treatment like acupressure. A Watsu practitioner Judy proposed Dr. Emoto that he, as a water expert, experience Watsu. But he declined with thanks , saying “A mysterious man should remain mysterious. If he exposed his naked body, the mystery would go away from him.” But I enjoyed Watsu instead of him.

Swimming Pool with a Spa

Pool for Watsu

This is my first time to visit a spa, and I got excited when I saw people walking in a white bathrobe like on TV. Wearing a bathrobe over the bathing suit, I was taken to a pool whose diameter was about 5 meter. The water temperature was not hot nor cold, almost same as my body temperature. Something like a inner tube was attached to my feet, and the practitioner supported my body to float on my back. Then the massage began. Stretches and flowing movements soon made me forget where I was, feeling like I was back in Mother’s womb. It was about 50-minutes session, but it was so comfortable that I felt I could experience Watsu for hours and hours. Thank you very much, Judy.

In the evening, the second version of “What the Bleep –“ was showed for the first time in the world. However, it was under editing and not completed. It was a good chance for Director Arntz to see how people like it. The second version has the same story as the first version, only the scenes of interview were changed, aiming to be more scientific, less spiritual. He is planning to solve as many questions that have arose after the release of the first version as possible.

In this version, Dr. Emoto appeared in one scene that was relevant to water crystals. But we were not satisfied with it. We knew it was under editing, but the scene was only about 30 seconds; it was too short too send Dr. Emoto’s philosophy. In addition, only the scene was in Japanese with English subtitles. It seemed to be running off the flow of the story. Some said that Dr. Emoto should not appear on the screen because he should remain mysterious. They are planning to release this second version around this December. It will go through further editing to be improved. I’m looking forward to it.

The View from Dr. Emoto’s Room

Omega in Austin was great as a whole, And Dr. and Mrs. Emoto satisfied with it, saying it would be nice if they could give a lecture here again.
