Today, I received a thank-you letter from Mr. Yukio Funai by fax since I sent him my new book, "The Message from Water Vol. 3, Love Thyself" the other day.

Thank you for kindly sending me your book "The Message from Water Vol. 3, Love Thyself." It is a good book. Through this book, I became to know more about you as well as what was going on around the world. I would like to talk to you soon, so I will probably arrange an interview with you on my monthly magazine "Funai-Media." I will let you know the details later on. Please send my warmest regards to your wife, your family and your friends.

I just moved to Atami in January. Things are still not settled yet. I apologize for the delay in sending this letter to you.

Thank you for your very kind letter.
As you turn seventy-years old, I see you retire from the front line and move to Atami. It is very helpful for me to see how you fulfill your plans since I am exactly 10 years younger than you. Now that I have become more of a public persona, I understand the difficulties you may have faced at your company (Funai Soken), and I find the way you present yourself just amazing. I truly respect you.
Please be a guidepost for the next ten and twenty years for people in the position like mine. I wish you the best as you take part in more exciting and wonderful activities. Please let me know if I can be of any assistance to you.

I understand most of you know who Mr. Funai is, so I won't go into details here. He recently moved from his long-time residence Takanawa to Atami, where he built a house. Currently he is supporting a local event called, "Atami Flower Exhibition" and hosting a "Second Annual Yukio Funai Open World" at Atami Korakuen. I am sure he will continue to be active and we can't take our eyes off his wondrous performances.

■　Friday, February 27, 2004 Happy Birth of “Mayu-chan”!!

Early morning yesterday was born the second daughter of Mr. Takashige Kizu of IHM Research Institute. He was blessed with the first child two years ago and he named her "Miyu"(in Japanese it means bearing beauty). He then named the second daughter "Mayu"(it means bearing hemp).
Mr. Kizu is a young man who entered our company three years ago after working as a HADO instructor. His motive for applying for the job was “I wish to be engaged with crystal photography that has been my longing”. Indeed, as having found a new enthusiasm, he has been working for us with a will and creativity. He is now, as a result, the head of six other staff members under the title of section chief and handles the operation of our institute.
He really loves crystal pictures. I even feel that he came to live a life to do this job. He perhaps named the first daughter “Miyu” wishing her to grow like a beautiful crystal. And the name “Mayu” for his second daughter makes me realize his thinking of the company's principle for the correct understanding and restoration of the hemp. Thus he is a little bit old to be called “IHM kid”, a child born in IHM. He truly likes IHM and it is his life itself.
Indeed, there are many other members of the company who could be called “IHM kid”just like Mr.Kizu. I wanted to introduce Mr. Kizu today to celebrate the birth of his second daughter.
The attached is his favorite, the photograph of the crystal created by showing the word “Marital Love”.

■　Tuesday, February 24, 2004 A postcard from a youngster in the fifth grade

Today, I got an impressive postcard. Kawashima Masatsugu, a primary school student in the fifth grade, sent it to me from Nagoya city in Aichi prefecture. Let me introduce his message for me.

I am a boy in the fifth grade. I have read "Message from water", "Message from water vol. 2", "Water knows the answers", "Water knows the answers 2", "True Power of Water", "Forms of Love Conveyed by Water", "The Tale of Crystals" and "A Prelude to the HADO Age". I will watch the video version of "Message from water" next time. At first, when I begin to read "The Tale of Crystals", I wondered why there were the words (love, hope, thanks and so on) or the titles of the tunes in the legends, because I supposed that "crystal" = "snow crystal". But soon, I understood that "crystal" did not mean "snow crystal", but "water (ice) crystal", and water takes the information from outside and receives the good or bad effects.
Once I had learned the piano, I was so impressed by the part that referred to the effects of the music. I also understood that water enabled us to have our emotions. In my school, I was always using the words that break the water crystals, but after I have read through the books, I have come to use the words that grow them as many as possible.
I thank water very very much. I also thank you for making the wonderful books. I hope you will publish more. In my home, we use water cleaners. When you will publish "Message from water vol. 4", please try the water crystals derived from the water cleaners. I brought your book to my class, everyone in the classroom gathered and read it. In a few days, they bought it. Since it was weekday and I have the classes, I could not attend the seminar in February 19. Won’t you have any seminar in Nagoya in holiday?
In the future, I would like to work in IHM.

I replied him as follows.

Thank you for your wonderful postcard Masatsugu. I'm very impressed. Your postcard rewarded me for keeping on my job. Of course, I have got some mails from the primary school students. But you are the first one who hoped to work in my laboratory. I'm very motivated by your words.
I'm 60 years old now. It will take about 12 years for you to graduate a university and to be a member of society, but I will take care of myself and stay healthy till then (in other words, I will be working until I got at least 72 years old). And then, when you will take the company entrance examination of IHM, I will attend your interview. So, please don't forget your original intention, and please behold the future of our research. If you have some advice for us, please tell me.
I promise you that we will keep on our research, so that your impression and sensation will last through your life. It will be good for you to study everything in terms of water.
We will have Nagoya seminar in June 20, in Korakusou in Nagahisate. I'm looking forward to seeing you there. Let's have the first interview. See you then.

■　Thursday, February 19, 2004 Photograph exhibition at Kinokuniya-gallery

We have a photograph exhibition of our pictures of the water crystals from today to 24. I have long been waiting for this exhibition. We hold this exhibition at Kinokuniya-gallery in the forth floor of Kinokuniya Shinjuku store. (Kinokuniya group is the most major book stores in Japan.)
Today, from 2 p.m., we had an opening reception in that gallery. It was a weekday today, so I worried about how many guests come, but more than 50 people came to our reception. The exhibition made a favorable beginning.
After an hour of celemony, I had an autograph session that commemorated the publication of 'Message from Water vol. 3'. About the half of the guests bought the book. I suppose all the writers dream their autograph in great Kinokuniya. I'm happy because I could hold the autograph session in Kinokuniya though I'm still a semi-professional writer.
I went back to my office in the evening, then I got a good news. Kinokuniya gave us an additional order. They ordered 200 books of 'Message from Water vol. 3'. Though the book was just-released (it was released yesterday), Kinokuniya made a big order. I suppose that Kinokuniya, the professional book dealer, assessed that 'Message from Water vol. 3' will be a big seller. For the time being, I will look forward to checking the mailbox.
On 21 (Sat.) and 22 (Sun.), we will have autograph sessions from 2 p.m. in the same place. Please attend our session if your time permits. There are our pictures of the water crystals with the latest model of electric spectaculars. They make very beautiful images. I recommend the photograph fans to see them.

■　Thursday, February 18, 2004　Hawaii Seminar Report

Yesterday in the afternoon, we landed at the Narita Airport safely and finished our latest tour. The tour group was rather small and a size of 14 people. The small size helped us to know each other and made the tour cozier. Two seminars, one in Hawaii and the other in Oahu, gathered 230 participants and were appreciated by local crowds. I would like to express our appreciation to Mr. and Mrs. Nago, Mr. Morishige of the Honolulu Hikarino Association, Mr. David and the others involved. Thank you again for your assistance.
Their invitation for the next year's seminars at Oahu, Kauai, and Maui tells us that our seminars this year were success. “Message from Water, Vol. 3 ? Love Thyself” had such a wonderful head start. It is also a sign that my journey across oceans worldwide will continue. I am more conscious and feel responsible for my role as a missionary. I came home in high spirits. I have to take care of my health and fully deliver messages from the lively vibration of water. Now, I will start again with “loving thyself” myself.
I would like to show you some pictures we have taken in Hawaii as I promised. Ms. K took the photos, not me. The photos reveal Ms. K's sense of beauty. She told me that she loved paintings and had been painting for a long time. I took the photos of the same scenery, however, her pictures were far more beautiful than mine. So, I ask her to let me use hers. As I always tell you, Crystal photos are all different by photographer. Now I am convinced that it is the same for ordinary photos as well. ■　Feb.12,2004　Star Watching Tour at Mt. Mauna Kea

We left Japan at 9 PM on February 11th and arrived at Oahu Island in Hawaii at 8 AM on the same day, where we waited for three hours to transfer and finally arrive at Hawaii Island by Noon.
　I was invited to hold a seminar at Oahu and Hawaii Island and we took this opportunity to make it to a Hawaii tour event. We welcomed ten participants and totally fourteen of us are on this tour.
　Hawaii Island is known as Big Island and is the largest island among all the islands in Hawaii. The Hawaiian Islands are really oceanic volcanic mountains, such as Mt. Mauna Kea, that rise 4,000 meters above the sea, including the magnificent Mt. Mauna Loa, and the volcanically active Mt. Kilauea. It is the outflow of lava from these volcanoes that comprise the surface of the islands.
Mt. Mauna Kea is the site of the world famous celestial observatory and is known for its ideal location to observe the stars from Earth. After we arrived at the hotel and taking a brief rest, we went “star gazing” on a bus tour to Mt. Mauna Kea. Our tour guide/driver, Andy, who is 29 years old and fluent in Japanese, shared with us his abundant knowledge of the universe on the way to the observatory, which sits 2,900 meters above sea level.
　The sun was about to set in on the way, and we got out of the bus and enjoyed the beautiful sunset and the scenery of the clouds and ocean. We further drove up for another half an hour and arrived at Onizuka Visitor Center, which was named after the late astronaut from Hawaii, Mr. Onizuka.
　The sun had begun to set and we were able to spy the first stars in the sky. We saw Venus first. 2,900 meters above sea level, Venus looked much brighter and bigger than from our home in Urayasu city. “It looks very different!” I thought out loud, but this was just the beginning.
　As the sky grew darker, more stars began to appear and the Milky Way unfolded before us. Suddenly, there was a vast explosion of stars. A flood of stars seemed to spread out before us in the dark horizon. The moment I began to think about seeing a shooting star, someone exclaimed, “Look a shooting star!” I turned and saw a magnificent shooting star burst across the sky. I thought it was a UFO, but actually it was a unusually spectacular shooting star, which even our tour guide, Andy, had rarely seen the likes of before. (Continued.)

■　Feb.11,2004　Northwest Flight 22

We left for Hawaii by the flight leaving at 9:00 pm Japan time on February 11. 14 of us together were on board for the flight of approximately six hours.
　Northwest Flight 22 were flying normally and we had the following announcement:
　“･･･Well, for the pilot of this aircraft who are now at the controls, this is the last flight mission for him after serving 36 years in Northwest. Please give him warmest congratulations. ”
　This announcement sounded like the copilot and we heard the similar announcement twice after that. The pilot seemed being greatly adored by his junior.
　Hearing this announcement, I thought “oh, yes, I would like to give The Message from Water Vol.3to the pilot”, so I called the flight attendant to tell this. She was very pleased and said “the pilot will certainly be happy”.
　I, then, noted “Congratulations. Good Luck!!”, signed my name and handed the photo album to her.
　An hour later, the flight attendant brought a bottle of champagne and said “this is from the pilot. He would like to thank you for the wonderful book". I felt very content that I was able to present my book on the date of publication to the pilot who was going to retire and he accepted happily.
　And when I was leaving the plane, he came to send me off and we exchanged a firm handshake. Now it became definite that this book would go straight on the best-sellers list.

■　Feb.10,2004　Messages from Water vol 3:Love Thyself completed

The book that we have all been waiting for, the sample copy of Messages from Water vol 3:Love Thyself was delivered today.
　I would like to thank all of you who have reserved this book to purchase. Because of everyone's trust in this book, it came out to be wonderful indeed. Again, thank you.
　I also want to tell you that I have strong feeling for this book. This is because I believe this book can be useful in preventing infectious disease. There are stories about different viruses flying all over the place, and as long as this unstable situation of the world continues, it is a phenomenon that we should not look lightly upon. This is understandable if you consider and analyze the past history.
　Therefore we need to heighten our immunity. There are different ways to do this, but something that you could do from this very moment is to think highly of yourself, appreciate yourself, and if possible to respect yourself. This is what I can encourage others to do to heighten their immunity, as a result of 15 years of studying water and ‘hado'.
　In the book, you can find out why this is so, or how this could be done, with various pictures from the experiments. So I advice people to get this book and to practice it as much as possible. Well today, it turned out to be a bit of a commercial, but please forgive me.
　With this book, I will go to Hawaii seminar tour from tomorrow. If possible, I would like to post up some beautiful landscape of Hawaii, so please look forward to it.

■　Feb.9,2004　Disney Sea

In the last Sunday, I went to Disney sea. I have never been to Disney sea since I went there in its opening ceremony for Urayasu citizens. I went there with Mr. Rasmus, who came from Australia to study how to take the picture of water crystals.
　Mr. Rasmus doesn't like the artificial entertainment, so he seemed to be not so interested in the Disney sea. But afeter we went around from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m., he got satisfied. He said, "that was more interesting than I have imagined".
　He once came to Japan 2 years ago. At that time he was a student. He has stayed in Japan for a month with his fiance. After he went back to his country, he got married. In the next June, he will get the second child. It seems that he got the first child in Tokyo.
　In January in this year, he graduated from his second university. He has enthusiasm in the picture of the water crystals, so he came to Japan again and he is supposed to be the staff of our company. We will get the center of growth of our concepts in Europe.
　I will report about him in this column in the future. He, who is 29 years old, said that he wants to support the water planet (the earth) as the pictures of water crystals do. I hope you will cheer for him.

■　Feb.3,2004　My First DVD Book

Today was a day for a shooting by Nippon Eiga Shinsha Co. (NES) for my DVD book, “The Message from Water (working title)”, to be published from Kodansha Ltd. at the end of coming March. A four-member crew came to my place at 8:30 in the morning to start. They had been shooting a sunrise at the Urayasu Takasu Kaihin Park nearly from 6:30 am in the morning. On the day, they worked intensively until 5:00 pm in the afternoon to create the imaginative DVD program and complete the shooting.
　NES is a trailblazer of non-fiction film industry in Japan and used to make a short news films played at movie theaters prior to the commercial films. The emergence of TV replaced a part of its market and the business has been a struggle for the last twenty years. The number of employees has been cut down to about 10% of its peak. It was two years ago, Mr. Y, one of NES's employees, attracted to the crystal photos in “The Message from Water”, came to visit me to propose making a motion version of the image.
　Unfortunately, my company did not have a budget for the project and could not accept the proposal at the time. However, my company staffs, impressed with Mr. Y's enthusiasm and sincere personality, formed “the Message from Water Video Production Committee”. They contributed on an individual basis and came up with a fund for the video production. The video version of “the Message from Water” was completed in November of the year. The video, the crystal of beautiful minds of my staff and Mr. Y, turn out to be such a beautiful piece. At the preview, everybody was looking into the screen without blinking, some with water in his or her eyes.
　Maybe it was because of inadequate publicity, the video did not sell as much as we thought. Not being able to give up and hoping more people to watch his video, Mr. Y wrapped up an idea of repackaging the video to a DVD book and looked for a publisher. Luckily, the Kodansha, Ltd, the publisher of True Power of Water accepted the proposal.
Starting as a self funded video production, the work is about to born again as a DVD book from the leading publisher, Kodansha. This time around, the moving image of growing crystals will be delivered to all over Japan and beyond to the World.

■　Feb.2,2004　Hado Construction Method for Residential Building

Yesterday, I was invited to speak at a seminar in Fukuoka Prefecture sponsored by i-land Co., Ltd., housing construction company. The schedule was rather hectic, first a two-and-a-half hour seminar that began at 10 AM, and another three hour seminar at 2 PM. However, I did not feel physically tired, which I believe it was because the seminar was held at a model house built using the Hado Construction Method.
　The model house utilized bamboo charcoals buried underneath the floor, and the materials for walls, floors and Doma (earth floor) were of traditional Japanese housing. The size of the seminar room was about fifty tatami mats, and it is a small space for sixty participants who were sitting on a small floor cushion. However, thanks to the good HADO of the house, everyone kept a good posture during the entire seminar.
　Unfortunately, for the past a few years, the term "sick house" has become more and more common to the general public. This company, i-land Co., Ltd., has been striving to create a space that promotes better health and to rehabilitate older housing into modern, “healthy” homes using a method called the "Hado Construction Method." The president of this company is only thirty eight years old and has been my supporter of my theories for the past ten years. He has even named the company "i-land," (“I” pronounced ai in Japanese means love), based on the concept of “Love and Thanks.”
　Without my knowledge, I have seen various projects based on the HADO concept especially in Japan's local areas. As a pioneer of HADO theory, I am very pleased to see my ideas find an unexpected and worthwhile application. That night after the seminar, I enjoyed dining and drinking with my hosts, breaking my rule of having more than two glasses of alcohol over dinner. There is nothing more exciting thing than having good drink and good conversations with young talents.
